Art on the Road

About Me

As a child, drawing and colouring with crayons were my most beloved activities. I then graduated to oil painting; I was learning to see my surroundings and it was only natural that I wish to paint landscapes that inspired me. But there was a frustrating element in the whole process: I was not content with the process or the final outcome because my idea of art at that time was to reproduce landscapes rather than to express the emotions that they evoked.

At this point in time, I  am approaching the artistic process in a different way. I am now discovering a  more playful, intuitive way of painting. Mixed-media has been a real discovery, leaving space for exploration and experimentation: when I paint, I feel like a tourist in a newly discovered space: I wander, I stop, I welcome new sensations, I intuitively move around, loving the process.

As John Updike put it, “What art offers is space, a certain breathing room for the spirit.
